Legacy
Legacy - Patty McCollom and Barbara Gershman, are two multi-instrumentalists, who play banjo, pennywhistle, fiddle, bodhran, vocals, hammered dulcimer and accordion, specializing in traditional music as well as a variety of international tunes. Programs can be customized to fit most occasions. Sing-alongs and audience participation are part of the fun.
Programs feature music and dance from Celtic, Old Time American and holiday traditions. Members of the audience are invited to become part of the show, as either dancers or percussionists. Shows are designed for either adult or child audiences.
Costs vary depending upon travel times and lengths of desired shows.
The Legacy musicians have performed in many festivals, such as the National Acoustic Music Festival in Missouri Valley, Iowa, the Arizona Dulcimer Festival, the Museum of Appalachia, in Norris, Tennessee and the Carter Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, as well as Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.
Legacy can provide a dance floor for carpeted venues if dancing is desired.
Shows:
Traditional Music From Around The World: Enjoy this new show any time of the year! The possibilities are endless.
Civil War Reenactment Show: Performers appear in period-appropriate costumes and play the music that was popular in the 1860s. At the most recent reenactment, Legacy met Mr. Lincoln.
St. Pat's Favorites: Popular sing-along Irish music and exciting step– dancing are featured in this show, which is accompanied by live music on such traditional Irish instruments as the tinwhistle and bodhran. Interested members of the audience are invited to join the show, either as dancers or as percussionists. This is a show which must be booked early as it usually becomes sold out in early March.
Old Time Americana Show: The audience is invited to be part of a typical barn party of the 1800s, in which neighbors gather to sing, dance and tell stories. Our show features the instruments of this region, including the banjo, hammered dulcimer, fiddle and limberjack.
Celtic Winter Holiday Show: We have two versions of this show, one for children, typically for after school library programs, and the other for organizations such as women's clubs or service organizations, where the audience will be adults.
Celtic Children's Winter Holiday Show: The children's show explores the holiday traditions, of the British Isles and the Americas. At the end of the show, children are invited to be part of a "parade," led by our step-dancer, in which the children dance to Celtic music played on traditional instruments. Music, dance and storytelling all combine to make this a memorable experience for all ages.
Celtic Adults' Winter Holiday Show: This show explores the holiday traditions, of the British Isles and the Americas. This lively, upbeat show can feature world class step-dancing, along with the haunting, harp-like sounds of the hammered dulcimer. The audience is invited to sing along to Celtic holiday music.
