The Lilies of the West Band provides family entertainment, with a special emphasis on introducing children to traditional music. Often, at the end of a Lilies' performance, audience members are invited to become part of the band, either as musicians or dancers. The Lilies' shows consist of music from Appalachia, Louisiana, (Cajun,) Ireland and Scotland, and are upbeat, toe-tapping events, complete with funny stories. If you, or your organization, would like to enjoy a family-friendly show, full of laughter, then the Lilies are for you! The Lilies go on several tours each year, away from their Southern California home. The Lilies have performed at Silver Dollar City, just outside of Branson, Missouri. For the past three years, the Lilies have traveled to the largest traditional music festival in North America, located at Missouri Valley, Iowa, called the National Acoustic Music Festival.. Also, every October, the Lilies perform at the prestigous Museum of Appalachia, located in Knoxville, Tennessee. From there, the Lilies go to Hiltons, Virginia to perform at the Carter Fold Museum.
Traveling throughout the United States to festivals has been an incredible experience for us because of all of the new friends we have made. The Lilies were thrilled to see that our group had been chosen for the Museum of Appalachia's official T-Shirt design. Patty's husband, Rob McCollom, models the shirt, with, left to right, fiddler, Barbara Whitney, guitarist, Jill Worley, and hammered dulcimer player, Karen Harvey are pictured. Banjo player, Patty McCollom, is dancing with the gentleman in the red shirt. Bass player, Marcia Bruno, is hidden behind her bass.
